Why We Pair AI Tools With Human Strategy (And You Should Too)

Moshe Mayer /

We get asked a lot: “If AI tools are so good now, why do I need a person?” It’s a fair question — and the honest answer is the whole reason we work the way we do.

What AI does brilliantly

Modern PPC automation is genuinely impressive. It can:

  • Make thousands of micro bid-adjustments a day
  • Harvest negative keywords from search-term reports continuously
  • Daypart budgets based on hourly conversion data
  • Spot patterns across more dimensions than any human could track

We use AI every day for exactly this. It’s leverage, and ignoring it would be malpractice.

What AI can’t do

Here’s the gap. AI optimizes toward a target you give it — but it doesn’t know:

  • Your margins. A 30% ACoS might be wildly profitable on one SKU and a disaster on another.
  • Your inventory position. Pushing ads on a product about to stock out is a great way to burn money and rank.
  • Your business goals. Launch aggressively? Defend share? Harvest profit? The “right” answer changes the whole strategy.
  • Context. A loss-leader, a new launch, a seasonal push — these need human judgment the model doesn’t have.

An automation that says “advertise this product” doesn’t know if that product is your hero SKU or a clearance item.

How we combine them

Our model is simple: AI executes, humans decide.

  1. A human sets the strategy — targets, priorities, guardrails — based on your actual business.
  2. AI and automation do the relentless, high-frequency execution.
  3. A human reviews, catches the edge cases, and adjusts the strategy as the business changes.

That’s how you get the speed of automation and the judgment that protects your profit. Neither alone is enough.

Want a team that uses the best AI tools without handing your account to a black box? That’s exactly what we do.
